Only three people entered my 1st Annual Mountain Times Oscar Prediction Contest, and none of them outguessed me, which means that no one gets my copy of U-571.
I picked 12 out of 24 categories correctly. My dad also picked 12 correctly, mostly by stealing my picks in the majority of the categories. My mom finished with 11, and Quinn had 10. Awesome contest!
All of us misdiagnosed Best Director. Aside from that, we all did pretty well in the major categories. Tom Hooper over David Fincher, seriously?
U-571 my ass.

I knew I should have picked The King's Speech but I really wanted The Social Network to win. Making picks actually made me pay attention to all the winners. Fun!!

I'm going up to your room and grabbing that copy of U-571 and watching it. I'll put it back before you know it and you'll be none the wiser!
The contest makes watching the Oscars more fun but in future years, the context should be limited to categories in which normal moviegoers can have a meaningful opinion, ie rughly the 7 categories that I made a selection for.

Haha good idea, Roy! Bitterness aside, that was definitely the most enjoyable Oscar-watching experience I've had in a while! Perhaps we should raise the stakes next time... I really want a copy of award-winning Year One...
