Over the past several months I've felt compelled a few times to watch this homemade rap video:
I first heard Slaughter Rico on an E. Ness mixtape, and when I searched him on YouTube I found this. I think it's my favorite "freestyle" ever. Damn. It starts slowly, but wait for it.
So is that rap scripted or improvised? Either way, it's quite impressive.

Emcees often like to pretend that, during impromptu rap sessions, they make up their words on the spot (this is "freestyling"), but my guess is that they generally think of most if not all of the lines beforehand, and the only improvisation consists of figuring out which lyrics to pull from memory and when. That's why I used the scare quotes around "freestyle" in my post. I could be wrong, though.
